Session Guide

Session Approaches

Every session is thoughtfully shaped around the personalities, ages, comfort levels, and rhythms of the family being photographed.

Rather than using a one-size-fits-all posing approach, sessions are designed to unfold differently depending on the developmental stage and emotional energy of the children involved.

Some families enter through imaginative storytelling and play, while others connect more naturally through movement, exploration, conversation, gathering, or quiet guided direction.

During the pre-session planning process, we’ll discuss the atmosphere and approach that may feel most natural for your family.

Child-led and Flexible

These story experiences are never performances and children are never expected to “act out” a role.

The stories simply offer a gentle shared starting point — a way to slow down, connect, and invite curiosity before the session unfolds naturally through movement, play, exploration, and connection.

Children are always free to engage in their own way, observe quietly, wander, cuddle close, or move on quickly depending on personality and comfort level.

River Nymphs

A story world inspired by creeks, rivers, moss, stones, and water movement.

Children may interact with:

  • small boats

  • nymph figures

  • lanterns

  • river stones

  • driftwood

  • silks and natural textures

This often flows naturally into:

  • creek wandering

  • leaf boats

  • water exploration

  • stone collecting

  • adventurous movement

Guided Connection Sessions

Designed for older children, teens, couples, and families

These sessions begin differently depending on the personalities and comfort levels of the people involved.

Some children and teens unfold naturally through movement and exploration, while others feel most comfortable with quiet conversation, gentle direction, or more editorial-style portraiture.

Together, we build a session experience that feels natural rather than performative using one or a variety of guided connection entry points.
