Your Questions Answered
I’m here to answer any questions you may have
-
I offer natural light, outdoor photography sessions for children, siblings, and families throughout Northeast Ohio. Sessions are designed to feel calm, natural, and connected while creating visually rich, story-driven imagery.
Some sessions are softer and play-based for younger children, while others are more exploratory and portrait-focused for older children and families.
-
Sessions take place in carefully selected outdoor locations throughout Northeast Ohio, including woodland trails, mossy forests, creek areas, open natural spaces, and other textured outdoor environments.
Locations are chosen based on:
your child’s age and personality
the type of session you’re drawn to
accessibility and safety
lighting and seasonal conditions
Some locations are calm and contained, while others are more adventurous and exploratory.
-
After booking, you’ll receive a detailed wardrobe and preparation guide.
In general, sessions photograph best with:
soft neutrals
earthy tones
natural textures
comfortable clothing that allows movement
The goal is always for clothing to support the feeling and atmosphere of the images rather than distract from them.
I’m happy to help guide wardrobe decisions during the planning process.
-
That’s completely okay.
Many children need time to observe, settle in, or connect before they feel comfortable — especially in new environments or around new people.
Sessions are intentionally structured to allow space for this.
Rather than expecting children to perform immediately, I gently guide the session around their energy and personality. Some children warm up through movement and exploration, while others need a quieter, slower beginning.
There is no expectation that children will smile on command or behave perfectly.
-
Children are human, and sometimes they simply need more time, space, or a different day.
I never force clearly overwhelmed or dysregulated children through a session experience that isn’t working.
If needed, we can pause, slow things down, or move to the planned backup date.
Some of the most meaningful sessions happen after giving everyone space to return feeling more settled and supported.
-
Both.
Sessions can focus on:
children only
siblings
parent and child connection
or full family imagery
Some families want to be deeply present in the images, while others prefer the focus to stay primarily on their children.
We’ll shape the session together based on what feels most meaningful to you.
-
Most sessions last around two hours.
The extra time allows children to settle naturally into the environment without feeling rushed. Some sessions naturally end sooner depending on the energy and flow of the day.
The pacing is intentionally flexible and guided by the experience rather than a strict timeline.
-
Once booked, you’ll receive:
a pre-session questionnaire
A session experience guide, wardrobe guide and session preparation guide
and a virtual planning meeting
The planning process helps me thoughtfully shape the session around your family, your children’s personalities, and the overall feeling you’re hoping to preserve.
We’ll also choose both a primary session date and a weather backup date during the planning meeting.
-
Because sessions rely heavily on natural light and outdoor environments, weather plays an important role.
I do not photograph during thunderstorms or unsafe weather conditions.
During our planning meeting, we’ll select:
a primary session date
and a backup rain date
If conditions would make the session stressful, rushed, or unsafe, we’ll simply move to the backup date.
-
Yes, some sessions are more exploratory and adventurous in nature.
Depending on the location and the age of the children involved, sessions may include:
creek walking
nature exploration
climbing over rocks
gathering flowers
movement through woodland environments
Safety is always the top priority, and more adventurous locations are reserved for families and children who are comfortable in those environments.
-
My work blends:
natural light
environmental portraiture
storytelling
gentle guidance
and real interaction
I’m drawn to images that feel atmospheric, connected, and emotionally honest rather than heavily posed or overly performative.
Sessions are guided thoughtfully while still allowing room for movement, play, and genuine connection.
-
Absolutely.
You do not need to know how to pose or worry about what to do during the session.
I’ll gently guide positioning, movement, and interaction throughout the experience while still allowing the session to feel natural and relaxed.
The goal is never stiff posing instead it’s creating images that feel beautiful and real.
